Lecture with Ana Fani Carlos (São Paulo): The ”metageography “ and the urban analysis

Jul 14, 2016

Metageography as a path towards understanding urban space under financial capital presents two levels of analysis: On the level of theory, we assume the thesis according to which social relations are created as space-time relations, highlighting the need to identify the relations between society and space, dialectically focusing on the social production of space.  On the level of urban reality, we assume the thesis according to which capital accumulation today is carried out, first and foremost, through the reproduction of urban space. The investigation is focused on the case of São Paulo, Brazil.
